Physiotherapy

As a physiotherapist, I am trained in the assessment & management of musculoskeletal injuries. I consult with your other healthcare providers and collaborate when needed to ensure your treatment is client-centered in nature.

Sessions may include a combination of exercise plans, education, manual therapy, taping, and other modalities as indicated.

Physiotherapy may aim to improve strength & function following surgery or injury, reduce the risk of falls, improve physical fitness, and much more.

Exercise & Performance Rehab

Exercise and performance-based physiotherapy is intended for those who are working towards strength and aerobic based goals. Whether you are looking to run a 5k for the first time, or are a seasoned athlete looking for some direction to address any issues that may be present, I will work with you to provide training & strategies that suit your goals.

Following a thorough assessment, prescription may include resistance training (involving free weights, bodyweight, bands, or machines), mobility training, balance and coordination training, and aerobic conditioning.

These sessions will be spent mainly in the extensively-equipped gyms that the clinics I work with are located in. We will spend time reviewing & performing your exercise plan. Hands-on treatment may be included as indicated.

Concussion Rehab

A concussion is a mild traumatic brain injury resulting from a strong force to the head or neck (e.g. a car accident, or taking a bad hit during practice). A concussion typically results in a rapid onset of short-lived impairments to one’s neurological function, and may or may not involve a loss of consciousness. Symptoms can appear many hours after the event, and may include headache, fatigue, nausea or vomiting, dizziness or balance problems, blurred vision, sensitivity to noise and light, confusion, memory problems, and feeling tired or groggy.

If this describes you, it is important to be assessed by a healthcare practitioner trained in concussion management in a timely manner. As a CCMI-trained practitioner, I am able to provide an up to date, evidence-based approach to help you manage your concussion and safely return to your work, sport, and life.

Lifting Assessment

A lifting assessment is for those who may be having trouble resolving a training-related injury or are looking to improve their lifting technique and performance – This is more-suited for strength athletes (CrossFitters, Powerlifters, and Olympic Weightlifters, and others working to improve/learning the squat, bench press, deadlift, snatch, or clean & jerk). These sessions are focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of lifting injuries, and will also include an analysis of your general movement patterns and biomechanics.

Assessment involves:

  1. Detailed review of your training history
  2. Comprehensive physical exam to assess your range of motion, strength, mobility, and neuromuscular control
  3. Video analysis and biomechanical assessment of your lifting
  4. Individualized corrective exercises and motor pattern adjustment strategies to improve your lifting technique
  5. Evidence-based suggestions to assist in injury recovery, prevention and overall improvements in lifting efficiency, including advice on lifting equipment
